Terms of Use

Effective and last updated: August 14, 2026

Read these terms before relying on a catalog record

IoTDataset.com is a discovery catalog. It does not replace the publisher's dataset page, licence, documentation, ethics review, or security assessment.

1. Operator and acceptance

IoTDataset.com is an independent, non-commercial volunteer research project maintained by A. DUHAIR; it is not a registered company. In these terms, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the project maintainer.

By using the site after these terms are presented, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site. Mandatory rights that cannot lawfully be waived remain unaffected.

2. What the catalog provides

  • Searchable records describing external and IoTSyn-generated IoT datasets.
  • Source links, licence fields, citations, previews, and research notes when available.
  • Automated citation formats derived from stored metadata.
  • Links to files or repositories controlled by third parties.

A catalog record is not a certification, endorsement, legal clearance, or guarantee that a dataset is complete, safe, lawful, current, reproducible, or suitable for a particular purpose.

3. Dataset rights and attribution

Third-party datasets, papers, names, marks, and repository materials remain subject to the rights and terms of their owners. A link, preview, citation, or metadata entry on this site does not grant a licence.

You must check the original source for the current licence, version, attribution instructions, access restrictions, and permitted uses. If our citation tool differs from the publisher's preferred citation, use the publisher's version and notify us.

We retain rights in our original site design, articles, descriptions, and selection or arrangement of catalog metadata, subject to third-party rights and applicable law.

4. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for how you access and use a dataset. You must:

  • comply with licences, privacy law, export rules, research ethics, and institutional requirements;
  • verify provenance, integrity, labels, consent status, bias, and security before use;
  • avoid attempts to identify people, expose credentials, attack systems, or cause unlawful harm;
  • give the attribution requested by the dataset or paper publisher;
  • avoid excessive automated traffic, security circumvention, and interference with the site.

5. No warranty and no professional advice

The site and catalog are provided “as is” and “as available.”

To the extent permitted by law, we give no express or implied warranty about accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, title, merchantability, fitness for purpose, availability, security, or the continued operation of a source link.

Catalog content is general research information. It is not legal, medical, cybersecurity, engineering, or compliance advice. Do not use a dataset or site output as the sole basis for a safety-critical, clinical, legal, or production decision.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss arising from the site, a source link, or a dataset. This includes loss of data, revenue, opportunity, reputation, research time, or business continuity.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited only to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or another liability that mandatory law does not permit us to exclude or limit.

7. External services and availability

External repositories and websites operate under their own terms and privacy notices. We do not control their content, files, accounts, uptime, security, or later changes.

We may change, suspend, remove, or restrict a catalog feature or record to maintain security, correct metadata, respect rights, or comply with law. We do not promise uninterrupted access.

8. Corrections and rights complaints

Authors, publishers, rights holders, and affected persons may request a correction, link change, attribution update, or removal review.

Send the public record address, the disputed field, the requested change, your relationship to the material, and supporting primary evidence to:

info@iotdataset.com

We may temporarily restrict a record while reviewing a credible complaint. A correction or removal does not admit liability or wrongdoing.

9. Privacy

Our separate Privacy Notice explains server logs, the essential session cookie, optional audience measurement, recipients, retention, and your choices. Optional analytics does not load before you accept it.

10. Changes, severability, and contact

We may update these terms. The page will show the effective date. Material changes apply prospectively after publication, except where an immediate change is required for security or law.

If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the extent required; the remaining terms continue. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver.
