Overview

DisabledHAR supports activity-recognition research that includes participants with mobility disabilities. The publisher describes 20 participants, smartphone sensing at 50 Hz and six activity categories. This record remains pinned to release 1.

Measured structure

The inspected CSV contains 396,602 rows and 33 columns: 30 sensor fields plus label, UserID and disabled. The activity strings are Downstairs, jogging, Sitting, Standing, Upstairs and Walking. No empty cells were found in the inspected table. UserID and the disability indicator are contextual identifiers, not extra motion channels.

Protocol interpretation

The protocol uses an approximately 8% ramp for ascent/descent. A subsequent release explicitly clarifies that the legacy Upstairs/Downstairs names denote ramp motion and that Walking for wheelchair users denotes manual wheelchair propulsion. Preserve the actual labels while documenting their meaning; they do not establish that wheelchair participants walked or traversed stairs. Participant-separated evaluation is needed to assess generalization to unseen people.
