Abstract

"First open Zigbee IoT dataset with fully decrypted payloads from 15 real smart home devices over 20 days. CSV and PCAP formats. Published July 2025 on Zenodo. Used for Zigbee traffic analysis, device behavior modeling, and security research."

Description

Overview

ZigBeeNet is a novel open-source dataset introduced in 2025 that fills a long-standing gap: the absence of publicly available, decrypted Zigbee network traffic from real smart home environments. Zigbee is one of the most widely deployed wireless protocols for low-power IoT devices used in smart bulbs, motion sensors, door locks, temperature sensors, and smart plugs.

ZigBeeNet was collected from a real smart home deployment with 15 active Zigbee devices over a continuous 20-day monitoring period. The dataset includes decrypted payloads enabling detailed inspection of application-layer commands, sensor readings, and device state updates completely hidden in encrypted captures.

The dataset stands out for its diversity: 15 heterogeneous device types produce distinct traffic signatures providing a rich multi-device behavioral profile suitable for device identification, anomaly detection, and protocol-level security research.

Column Schema

ColumnDescription
timestampPacket or frame capture timestamp.
device_idIdentifier for the Zigbee device.
