Energy Consumption Dataset for Smart Homes — 5 Appliances, Individual Smart Meters [Zenodo 2025]
Abstract
"Real IoT smart home energy dataset from a testbed of 5 household appliances each connected to an individual smart meter. 507 KB CSV. Published January 2025 on Zenodo. Used for appliance-level energy monitoring, household energy disaggregation, and smart meter analytics."
Description
Overview
This dataset was collected using a physical IoT testbed specifically constructed for household energy consumption experiments. Five common household appliances were each individually connected to a dedicated smart meter, enabling precise, non-aggregated appliance-level energy monitoring. This testbed-based approach eliminates the ambiguity of disaggregation that affects whole-house metering datasets, providing clean ground-truth energy consumption per device.
The testbed appliances represent those commonly found in residential settings — such as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioning units, water heaters, and lighting systems — though the exact appliance composition is described in the accompanying documentation. Together, the five metered appliances form a complete home energy system model suitable for simulating real-world household energy management scenarios.
Published on Zenodo in January 2025 (record 14768659), the dataset is compact (507 KB) and directly downloadable, making it ideal for rapid experimentation, algorithm prototyping, and educational use in smart home energy analytics and IoT sensor data processing.
Column Schema
