Catalog Summary

"Open-access domestic electricity dataset from 5 UK homes with whole-house demand at 16 kHz and appliance channels at 6-second intervals. Research-paper dataset release. Used for NILM, load disaggregation, and smart-meter analytics."

Catalog Notes

Overview

UK-DALE is a landmark open-access dataset for domestic electricity demand recorded in five UK households. It combines high-frequency whole-house measurements with appliance-level signals, enabling detailed studies of residential consumption patterns.

The dataset was designed to support energy disaggregation and consumer-feedback research in the context of smart metering. One of the homes was monitored for 655 days, making the release unusually long for an appliance-level public benchmark.

Column Schema

ColumnDescription
timestampTime of observation.
aggregate_powerWhole-house apparent or active power demand.
appliance_powerPower draw for an individual monitored appliance.
voltageWhole-house voltage signal where available.
currentWhole-house current signal where available.
house_idIdentifier for the monitored residence.
channel_idAppliance or circuit channel identifier.
