ESHED-38 — Five-Year Smart Home Energy Dataset
Catalog Summary
"70,718 daily household records with 47 columns: smart-meter energy use for 38 Erbil homes, weather variables and household survey attributes."
Catalog Notes
Overview
ESHED-38 combines household electricity consumption with weather and building/household attributes in Erbil. The source identifies smart meters as the energy source and a household questionnaire collected in December 2025.
Measured structure
The inspected workbook contains 70,718 nonempty rows and 47 columns: 38 houses with 1,861 daily records each, from 14 May 2020 through 17 June 2025. The worksheet extends beyond the data through formatted blank rows; these were excluded from the count. No empty cells or negative values in the inspected energy column were found.
Interpretation
Survey attributes were collected retrospectively and should not be described as continuously measured occupancy sensor streams. Distinguish household attributes from time-varying meter/weather readings when constructing models. The dataset supports daily household energy analysis; the dates above specify its actual coverage more accurately than an assumed complete set of calendar years.
